Lights, Gas, and Income.

We are a CEDA (Community and Economic Development Association) designated Community Action Agency. We realize that energy cost places a severe and continuing stress on the family budget. Good customer service is what we are most praised for with this program. Many that walk through our doors for help are having to choose between feeding our children or paying high utility bills. Our customers seeking energy assistance is often surprised that Diamonds in the Ruff goes beyond the question of what is obvious. LIHEAP is a well know gateway that allows us to address other family needs. Being in a university setting we inquire of those who wish to return to school and provide the avenue to do such. We learn of those who are not registered voters and through our university partners, get them registered. We also hire Grandparents/Kinship caregivers looking for part-time work to supplement their incomes. More importantly, we take this program onsite into the schools with a high percentage of low-income families. Lastly, during heating season, we have extended office hours to accommodate LIHEAP applicants who may be working or in school during normal business hours. We are truly A COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY.
