-Blue Angels Campaign
During the month of April, which is Prevent Child Abuse Month, we solicit donations on our Blue Angels Campaign. The Children of Elliot Donnelly Youth Center created the Angels (click here to see the pictures). Pick up your Angel at our designated community partners. This fundraising campaign is for respite awareness and to raise dollars for families in need of respite services. Most often, the children raised in Kinship are not wards of the state, therefore there is no monetary allowance for this supportive service. The 60 year old retired neighbor who has assumed the responsibility of caring for the abandoned child will need a respite break. The mom who may be suffering postpartum depression in many cases cannot aford respite. The mother recovering from chemotherapy cannot physically be the mom her children are accustomed to. She needs time to recuperate. The single father who is suddenly found raising his children alone, while he remains the breadwinner of the home, needs respite too. Diamonds in the Ruff works proactively and preventively, this campaign assist in paying for respite services.
